Real Estate License Reinstatement and Mutual State Licensing Agreements in Pennsylvania
If you are moving to Pennsylvania and have an active license from a different state, there is one important question, how will you be able to work in PA? Are you going to be asked to go through the entire application process just to switch to a license that is acceptable in the state?
You can rest easy because PA actually has reciprocity, all thanks to Act 41. Going by this statute, it means that virtually anyone who holds a license and has actively been working in a different state will easily be able to receive reciprocity, and there are specific states that have mutual reciprocity.
For instance, the states that are automatically included are Louisiana, Arkansas, New York, Maryland, and Massachusetts.1 However, if you happen to live in any of the other states, then you will need to confirm with the Pennsylvania Department of State whether there are ways to receive your PA license;2 sometimes it involves passing the PA section of the final exam only.
